90degrees - I wish. Saw snow on the roadside yesterday on the way to a tournament out of town... :(
What's up with the boiling advisory? |

Boston and surrounding counties are under a boil order. One of the primary water mains in the region suffered a stress fracture. normally its pretty easy to fix, but the main is so big and the water coloration is making seeing anything arrounnd it difficult so they are having an extremely difficult time patching it.
I was supposed to go to boston this week but I begged off of it because I'm on call and I can babysit a consultant just as easily form here. this all happened yesterday I think so I'm pretty glad Iopted to not go.

From our internal memo notification:
quote: A major water tunnel (main) bringing water to the Boston area experienced a "catastrophic" leak on Sunday. The failure occurred in Weston, MA and has resulted in 8 million gallons of water per hour rushing into the Charles River water basin. Because of the clarity in the water rushing from the break, it is impossible to see down to the leak. Contractors and engineers have to wait until the tunnel drains to begin repairs. As a result, Governor Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency and has been advised by the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) to issue a "boil-water" order for Boston and dozens of other communities.

Thankfully it's only Boston and the surrounding area. Nothing affecting us hillbillies out in Western Mass.

| Yeah, I've lived in a Boston suburb for years now. Bottled water was cleared well off the shelves way before I even heard about the problem. I was lucky enough to get paper plates and cups. Should all be flushed in 2 days (the pipe itself has been fixed at this point. |

| Yup. There is an all clear- they were able to cap the rupture in very good time. Now it's a matter of running cold water for a few minutes, and running hot water for 15 minutes to clear out your water tank. I have in-line water heating (so no tank) so I just have to turn on each tap for a minute to clear the main to my house line and my house inflow to each tap. What the hell am I going to do with all the garbage frozen food I bought so I wouldn't have to dirty dishes while cooking (Baron's frozen pizza I am looking in your disgusting direction, and your buddy "chicken fingers" too). |

| Also, you can invite the guys over the watch a game (there is always a game in one of the sports) and serve the frozen refreshments. :D |
